unexpectedly the spotshank still present on the main lake at west rise.

my earliest little ringed plover at newhaven plus 7 jack snipes and 2 bearded tits. plenty of rock pipits down the cuckmere at high tide, this was the best looking of those i had a good look at. was worth a visit just to see the amazing snow drifts at the entrance to the foxhole.

the wind produced some deep drifts and interesting formations.

a walk around the lake at west rise produced a spotted redshank, a rock pipit, 2 jack snipe, 2 bearded tits and 20 pintail. nothing of note at shinewater tho.

quick visit to west rise in blizzard conditions produced point blank views of a pair of bearded tits, but it was so bad i couldn't even get a video.

i actually went to have a look for the dipper today. it's too big a bird not to at least have a go. i walked the whole of the section of stream that looked right for dipper and it definitely wasn't there. nice spot tho and was a good excuse to explore an area of sussex i've never been to before. also had a brief look in ebernoe wood where there was oddly a barn owl flying around high over the wood then hunting along a ride at midday, and 3 chiffchaffs by the pond. at arlington in the evening 2 oystercatchers on the dam and the pipit still present. an argie was at newhaven west beach at dusk.

weather forecasts are meant to come from the same source, so how can they be so different?!
