flushed an avocet from the near bank at west rise then put up a bittern point blank practically out in the open. also 2 scandinavian rock pipits (one a particularly good looker) not giving themselves up and still a few white wags around.

11 jack snipes and 2 bearded tits at newhaven.
unbelievably cold today. nearly april and i haven't seen a hirundine yet. there's gotta be a heat wave coming this summer, there's got to be.
