on 11th the first reed warbler at west rise and on 12th a common sandpiper there.

on 13th a fantastic fall of willow warblers at beachy. not much variety tho - new for the year were ring ouzel, redstart, whitethroat and firecrest.

on 15th a light passage at splash point with bonxie, little tern and tree pipit new for the year.

red kite over west rise and first sedge warbler in song. yesterday a reasonable seawatch at splash point including 17 little gulls and first velvet scoter, common tern, willow warbler and sand martin for the year

my blackcaps are now gone with the female last seen on 25th and the male in the first week of march. had a max of 3 in the garden in feb (at least 5 in the local area) but being very food aggressive birds there was normally just one at a time.

Water pipit still at west rise, 3 little egrets new in, naff all migrant passerines. Quiet now the winter birds are gone and the summer birds are yet to arrive. There was a conspicuous westerly movement of immature black-headed gulls in flocks of up to 150, something I normally associate with May
