was just thinking it was about time i jammed a bittern at west rise when one dropped in. first bittern i've seen in about 12 years and the first i've ever seen on the deck, if you can call it that.

have started a native marine aquarium, at the minute includes these 2 blennies and some anemones

have been looking at gulls all week but seen nothing. today i was at the cuckmere when an adult caspian gull dropped in. it didn't hang around long tho. annoyingly the camera memory ran out just as the bird was about to take off so just got this boring record shot to show.

an interesting note on garner's blog about chiffchaffs. if abietinus migrate southeast away from the uk, as do fuscus, birds we see are either collybita or tristis.
