i love birding in the snow. along a short section of the ouse project adjacent to the cycle track i had woodlark, woodcock, water rail, and jack snipe, and 5 lovely bearded tits (4 moustaches) were out in the reeds. in the afternoon while i was sledging at seaford head a ringtail hen harrier flew west. hoping for some cold weather movement early in the day i went along to the old marina, cant believe it was my first birding visit there since moving back! it's fucking shit! west arm closed, south quay closed, undercliff closed, east arm closed. only things of note were some confiding stonechats, a fieldfare on someone's balcony, a big starfish, an alarm which sounded like a spotted crake and some nut job swimming in the sea. will be seawatching at splash point this spring.
