at the res 1 common sand, 3 white + 7 yellow wag on the dam.

the rain brought some waders down in the cuckmere - 3 avocet, 1 greenshank, 1 lrp, 3 ringed plover, 25 dunlin and 2 common sand on the east side. went back in the afternoon to the west side. there were 2 imm black redstarts at hope gap, one of which was singing, and an adult male near the coastguards. in scrub to the south of harry's bush were 3 pied flycatchers. a black and white male was surprisingly only the 4th i've seen in this plumage.

above 3 images show was must be an unusual retarded immature male (going by greater covert pattern). it's gotta be a different bird to the top 4 images (wings too asymmetrical, dark throat patches) although didn't see 2 birds together.

finally starting to do some improvements to newhaven west beach now it's got its village green status...

love seeing flocks of barwits in spring, big contrasting mix of plumage and size, every bird individual. think i like the cold grey females as much as the red males, at least when they're all together. shame about the fog when i took these, have had to over process the photos to bring out the colour.
