had to be in pompey today so birded a few sites in west sussex on the way. the ring-billed gull buggered off when i got my bread out so not so many photo opps and i just caught the arse end of the glauc flying down haslar creek (saw 7 of these in the late 90s but surprisingly none since). never bothered to twitch the rbg in the ten years when it was just over the water from the iow, and is actually only the 3rd one i've seen.
