seven juvenile bearded tits, running about on the mud like a troop of monkeys. the pale individual looks especially good.

3 green sands and 1 little ringed plover (overdue patch tick) at west rise. 3 little ringed plovers, 2 dunlin, 1 greenshank, 1 whimbrel and 1 common sand down the cuckmere.

on 7th there were 2 red black-tailed godwits, a singing corn bunting and c.35 little egrets down the cuckmere. then 2 black-tailed godwits (same?? - also reported at arlington later), 3 dunlin, 8 egrets and plenty of sand martins moving through at west rise. while i was down in frances bottom mid morning a serin flew over - it came off the top by beachy hotel and i watched it till out of sight towards eastbourne front. only the second one i've seen in sussex.
